THE ORIGINAL BACARDÍ MOJITO

One of the true Cuban classics, with its exact origins largely disputed and lost with time. We do know that the cocktail itself has been around since the late 1500’s, where it was made with crude spirits under the name «Draque» and was later reinvented in the late 1800’s with Bacardi spirits, which became known as the Mojito cocktail.

The original recipe calls for BACARDÍ Carta Blanca white rum, fresh lime juice, sugar and whole mint sprigs. Unlike the popular European rendition with muddled lime wedges and mint leaves, leaving us with a fresh highball cocktail that can be enjoyed all year round.

THE ORIGINAL BACARDÍ MOJITO

Highball

4cl BACARDÍ Carta Blanca

3cl Fresh Lime Juice

1,5cl Simple Syrup

Large Mint Sprigs

Method

Build all ingredients over cubed ice, and clap your mint before putting in the cocktail to begin the expression of oils. Stir, top with soda water before stirring again. Garnish the cocktail with a lime wedge, and a whole mint sprig.

BACARDÍ CARTA BLANCA

Don Facundo spent ten years perfecting his BACARDÍ Carta Blanca. Smooth and subtle with notes of almond and vanilla, it doesn’t dominate like gin or disappear like vodka. Perfect for classic rum cocktails like the Mojito.
